Dunton Street\, Arlington Heights\, IL 60004\nCREATIVE HYMN PLAYING\nADAPTING PIANO MUSIC FOR THE ORGAN\nOne of our most important jobs as organists is to encourage congregational singing with hymn playing that enhances the lyrics of hymns. In this workshop you’ll find tips on doing that through phrasing\, registration\, alternate harmonizations and modulations. Secondly\, as organists\, we’re all called on frequently to play music on the organ that was written for piano\, or transcribed for piano from an orchestral score. Richard Enright’s book\, Fundamentals of Organ Playing\, will be used. Participants will play hymns and organ repertoire. Attendees are encouraged to bring along their own copies of Dr. Enright’s book (which can be purchased at OHS’s Online Catalog\, item #99-1277\, at the cost of $24.99).
