Passing the Baton
This is the final Overtones newsletter of my 2-year term as Dean. I want to thank all of the board members who I’ve served with for their time, dedication, and energy in support of organ music here on the North Shore. I especially want to thank Richard Clemmitt for saying yes to serving as Dean and for his continued leadership in our chapter. In the past two years we welcomed concert organists Amanda Mole, Jonathan Ryan, and Hans Davidsson, hosted a hymn festival led by Tom Trenney, gathered for annual banquets, Epiphany parties, and a potluck, presented members’ recitals celebrating organ music by women composers and black composers, hosted masterclasses in organ performance and improvisation on hymn tunes, and awarded scholarships to beginning and continuing organ students. Membership has also held steady and has even increased. These things don’t just happen – they are the fruits of the labor of our members and board. Thank you for being ambassadors for organ music in our area, supportive colleagues, and an inspiration to new organists. Know that your work and your music makes our world a better place. Meliora!
