On Friday, April 24th, the Festival Choir of First United Methodist Church of Evanston will present a program titled “Beethoven & Vierne.” The concert celebrates two renowned composers’ anniversaries: symphonist Ludwig van Beethoven’s 200th and organist Louis Vierne’s 150th. The program begins with Louis Vierne’s “Messe solennelle” (Solemn Mass) for choir and two organs – indicative of Vierne’s post at Notre Dame in Paris. The program concludes with Beethoven’s “Mass in C” – a choral masterpiece from his middle period. The 7:30pm concert is free and open to the public.
