Someone You Should Know: Martin Kehe

Martin is originally from Denver, Colorado, and holds degrees from Arizona State University, UCLA, and Capella University, and did postgraduate study at Loyola University Maryland. He studied organ with Robert Finster and Austin Lovelace (undoubtedly familiar names to Northshore Chapter members from their time in Evanston) during their residence in Denver. Martin also studied with Everett Hilty at the University of Colorado and David N. Johnson at ASU, with whom he also studied composition. He holds the AGO Service Playing and Colleague certifications.  Martin has mostly served as organist and choirmaster at Episcopal churches, having held positions at parishes in Arizona, California, New York, and Maryland.

In addition to his musical career, Martin has had a long career in student and adult assessment, and most recently retired from a position heading the assessment department at the GED Testing Service and Pearson test publishing.

Martin has been the Associate for Music at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Wilmette since 2017, and he lives in the Albany Park neighborhood of Chicago with his husband Anthony. They have five adult children, Laura, Sean, Darius, and Luis (all in Chicago) and Phillip (San Francisco).
