It was a blustery, frigid evening, but inside 516 Greenwood Street in Evanston, a warm and festive party was underway for about thirty members and spouses, thanks to the wonderful hospitality of our Dean, Andrea Handley, and our Chaplain, David Handley. Blazing fireplaces and beautiful decorative holiday decorations added to the merrymaking.
Tasty appetizers and spirits started the Epiphany celebration, followed by a delicious meal prepared by our host. The dessert table was a succulent assortment of holiday treats, followed by a short program, sponsored by the board.
Jill Hunt brought copies of Rutter’s Twelve Days of Christmas for us to sing, followed by four hands piano with Andrea and Sharon Peterson playing a spirited version of Jingle Bells, followed by Sleigh Ride. Lois-Eve Anderson led us in an old carol, When Christ Was Born, and Lee Nelson brought choral copies of Deck the Halls and All That Jazz. The program closed with Mary Gifford singing The Twelve Days AFTER Christmas, Laurie Stiver, accompanying.
The evening was a huge success all around. The definition of comaraderie is: a spirit of good friendship and loyalty among members of a group, and that is most certainly what I felt we all experienced. Thanks again, Handleys for sharing your lovely home with us.
