Recently, I’ve been thinking about the in-between moments of life. These are usually considered unimportant transitions during which nothing happens, as we aren’t completing a task or discovering a new insight. Yet, one moment is really no more important than the next. Living in the present lets us value the process of life as well as the products (all we accomplish in our day).
This is hard for me personally because I get a lot more strokes for what I do than for who I am. Yet, I realize this gives me a good perspective and keeps me from wishing I had just a bit more time in my day. The problem really isn’t lack of time, but perhaps its our failure to value the in-between moments.
In the coming days, whether you are practicing, performing, listening to some wonderful organ music, or doing some other simple task of the day, make sure you take time to appreciate the value of the present moment. February is also the perfect month to let those who are near and dear to you know how much they mean to you.
This month, we are also co-sponsoring a wonderful event in collaboration with the Chicago AGO Chapter. Marie Rubis-Bauer will play a recital at the Winnetka Congregational church on February 22 at 7:30 pm. This will be followed by a Masterclass the following morning. You can find more details by reading the February Overtones newsletter.
I look forward to seeing you soon. Please come up and introduce yourself to me if you haven’t done so yet.
Warmly,
Judy
