Review of Recent NSAGO Event: Lenten Virtual Recital

Review of Lenten-themed Organ Recital
Friday 2/26/21, 7:30pm

On Friday, February 26 our chapter held a Lenten Members’ Recital on Zoom. Organist Brian Schoettler played a new work titled “Elegy for the Time of Change” by Robert Harris. The composer, who was in attendance, shared that his motivations for writing the piece included the murder of George Floyd and the preaching of Bishop Michael Curry. Organist Linda Cerabona played a setting of the 10th century chant Attende Domine, performed by her and cantor David Sacha at Mundelein Seminary this past Ash Wednesday. Organists Isza Wu, Charles Sundquist, Paul Cochran, and James Janssen offered some beautiful works of Brahms, J.S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, and Bossi.

Many thanks to who participated, both as players and audience members! If you weren’t able to be with us on Zoom but would like to hear the concert, you may find it below:
