Dear Friends,
The AGO Committee on Membership Development was recently tasked with the project of creating a webinar to be used as a resource for local chapters such as ours. Titled “Re-igniting, Re-imagining and Re-emerging from COVID-19,” eleven AGO chapters from around the country were chosen to feature one of their most creative programs. For example, one chapter in Austin used a movable organ on a flatbed to introduce the world of the organ to people passing by. Another chapter utilized a drone in the organ loft to show a view of the pipe organ mechanics that very few people get to see. Other chapters have apparently decided to wait out the pandemic and not offer any programming.
This certainly has not been the case for the North Shore Chapter. Thankfully, over one year into this pandemic, it seems we haven’t missed a beat. Thank you to all the creative members willing to give their time and effort to make things happen.
Though our events remain virtual for the time being, this month we wrap up a year full of wonderful programs with a recital on May 16. This will feature members from our chapter playing pieces of their choice on a variety of beautiful instruments. You will find the information in this month’s Overtones and will also receive an email invite that we hope you will pass along.
I love the month of May, as it feels like a new beginning in so many ways. Don’t forget to take the time to reach out to each other. It is so important for the health of our friendships as well as our chapter. Perhaps there is a friend or colleague just waiting for you to personally invite them to join us for an event or even become a member.
Warmly,
Judy Kohl, Dean
