Organ Scholarship Initiative | November 2021

Once again, we’re encouraging each Member to consider teaching 3 free lessons and/or recommending someone who would benefit from our Organ Scholarship Initiative (OSI.) Remember how we began this, and had 7 teachers  and 9 students the first Summer?! Don’t you know someone curious about the organ who’s just waiting to be given some direction at the console?!

Now it’s your turn to step up. With vaccines widely available, lighter Summer schedules, and a renewed sense of looking toward the future, this is the perfect time to get involved. We’ve had some participation throughout this strange year, but the Fall  is ideal for pursuing this passion.

Please visit our website to find information on the program, listed under “About Us,” and then find the Teacher or Student application to complete (or forward to a potential applicant). Intermediate piano skills are recommended, but generally, this initiative is adaptable to all ages, teaching/learning styles, desired outcomes, and locations in Chicagoland. The Student will receive 3 free lessons, and a complimentary 2021-22 Membership in the NSAGO Chapter.

After submitting the application, Teachers and Students will be matched by locale and interests, and this new pair will enjoy music-making at the organ. Many of our past Teachers have been able to arrange practice time at the organ where lessons are given, but we can assist with arranging practice time if needed. We anticipate many of you will welcome this interesting, satisfying, and energizing outreach opportunity.

Thank you for your consideration.
