The concert will feature the world premiere of British-born composer Peter Meechan’s “Love Songs (Shakespeare).” Commissioned by the Gargoyle ensemble, it’s a half-hour neo-Romantic work in four movements for brass quintet, pipe organ, mixed-voice chorus, and narrator, inspired by Shakespeare’s love poems, specifically, four of his sonnets.
