Someone You Should Know: Padraig McGuire

Padraig McGuire is Cantor at Augustana Lutheran Church of Hyde Park.  An ordained pastor in the ELCA, he has credentials shared with the Philippine Independent Church (Anglican) and serves a Priest Associate to the Congregation of the Good Shepherd in Lincolnwood, IL.   Having served two congregations in Florida, Padraig came to Illinois in 1999 and has assisted with the ministry of thirteen congregations here.   

He holds a BMus from the University of Miami; an MTS in Church Music and an MDiv from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus Ohio and engaged in post-graduate work in liturgy at Lutheran School of Theology.  He has had the honour of studying voice with Lorene  Buffington; composition with Donald Busarow, conducting with Daniel Moe and organ with May Swartz.  A member of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, and sixteen years a singing member of the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus; Padraig is a Canadian and a former Latter Day Saint.  There are stories!
