1. What is sitting on your desk right now?
Actually, I don’t have a desk. A friend, describing her own home, called the various work stations around the house “nests.” I have a checkbook/bills to be paid “nest” and a nest of files with paid bills and important papers. My music nest is on and around the organ bench. Current projects are 2-3 minute postludes to record for Immanuel Lutheran Church in Evanston Sunday zoom services and a 45 minute recital for Trinity Episcopal in Highland Park.
2. What would you rather be doing right now?
Practicing and learning new music or walking by the lake. Redbuds and lilacs have been spectacular this spring!
3. What is the best advice I ever received?
Assume nothing!
4. What is the best advice I ever gave?
Be kind, always!
5. What keeps me motivated in life?
My family: Both of our daughters had small but beautiful and fun weddings during the pandemic, one in October 2020 and the other in January 2021. They are each planning larger celebrations post pandemic, one in October 2021 and the other in June 2022. My husband Mark launched a major household de-cluttering initiative at the beginning of the pandemic (hard to describe in a few words!) We have recently begun a whole foods plant-based diet with almost no fat or sugar. So far, so good…
Music: Playing the organ for church has always been a major focal point in my life. I look forward to the time when we organists can accompany congregational singing again!
