Personal Profile: Gary Wendt

Gary Wendt
Minister for Music & Organist
Glenview Community Church
Glenview, IL

1. What is sitting on your desk right now?

A stack of music that needs filing, my mask, an empty Starbucks cup, and a small, tented sign that reads, “I’m not your therapist.”

2. What would I rather be doing right now?

Nothing, really.  I’m lucky to love doing what I’m doing where I’m doing it.  If pressed, though, I would say bicycling, living life without a mask and being retired in Michigan with a martini in hand.

3. The best advice I ever received?

After you’re gone, nobody’s going to care what you possessed, only what you did – My Dad (in more colorful, direct language, I’m sure).

4. The best advice I ever gave?

Check your fly.  (I’m an elementary school teacher)

5. What keeps me motivated in life?

Learning new things, having diverse interests, kids, collaborating, mixology.
