AGO Regional Convention Update | May 2023

We’re almost there! The Great Lakes Regional AGO Convention is fast-approaching, and we on the steering committee are all very excited about the treat that awaits all who will be attending.

There is still time to join us. Please visit our website to register (nsago2023.org) – for the entire convention, or for a day. Here are some highlights you don’t want to miss out on:

  • Opening festival concert at Millar Chapel with orchestra (Stephen Alltop, conductor) and two organ concertos (Eric Budzynski, organist)
  • Artist recitals at North Shore Congregation Israel (Madeleine Woodworth), Trinity United Methodist in Wilmette (Nicole Keller), Glenview Community Church (Stephen Buzard), St Giles Episcopal in Northbrook (Yun Kim), Winnetka Congregational Church (Christa Rakich), Faith Hope and Charity in Winnetka (Scott Montgomery), and First Presbyterian Church in Evanston (Vincent Dubois)
  • Festival opening worship service at First United Methodist in Evanston with new compositions by Thomas Jefferson and Robert McConnell.
  • Hymn Festival at St Luke’s Episcopal in Evanston led by Aaron David Miller, Choral Evensong at Church of the Holy Comforter in Kenilworth.
  • Lunch at Botanic Garden with a carillon concert. (Wylie Crawford)
  • Workshops on a variety of topics led by local experts in their fields, including a morning of ‘Worship and Workshops on the Square’ with themed worship services.
  • Gala closing banquet and reception!

AND DON’T FORGET… We are also offering an optional event the morning after the convention closes called ‘A Taste of Chicago’ – a visit to four churches in Chicago with mini-recitals at each location: Madonna della Strada Chapel Loyola University, St Chrysostom Episcopal Church, Holy Name Cathedral, Fourth Presbyterian Church.

We hope to see many of you there!
