Please note below the Obituary for Deacon Thomas G. Harris – a longtime member of the North Shore Chapter AGO. .
“In the sure and certain hope of the Resurrection we share with deep sadness of the death of the Reverend Thomas G. Harris, Organist and Choirmaster Emeritus of the Episcopal Church of the Atonement, Chicago. He was Organist and Choirmaster from 1960 to 2010. Harris was born December 4, 1937 and passed away on September 8, 2021.
Deacon Harris was a graduate of Northwestern University with both Bachelors and Masters degrees having studied organ with George McClay and Thomas Mathews. Later he studied at Seabury Western Theological Seminary and was ordained to the Diaconate in 1973 and served his entire ministry at the Episcopal Church of the Atonement.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Church of the Atonement on October 23, 2021. Rest eternal and grant unto him, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and all souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

The Southwest Suburban Chicago Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will present their annual Christmas recital at the church for the first time in 2 years. Organists to be featured are Sharon Fisher, Joseph Gonzalez and John MacKey. Organ repertoire will consist of carol settings and some other pieces. Everyone will have an opportunity to sing along with a couple of carols and there will be an informal reception following the program.
It is open to be public free of charge.
