A Friend – Kirstin Synnestvedt

Lee was such a great musician in both organ playing and choral conducting!  Not everyone has the choral skills he had, combined with a personality on the podium that could command the attention and delight in volunteer singers.   Handling volunteer church choirs well is a very special gift !  And his organ playing was beautiful and served not only the public,  but us as well in subbing.

What a great friend, too. He was one of the great musicians in A.G.O. that I first met when I began driving here and visiting from Iowa City.  I remember him being a key, welcoming figure in a day of AGO events in Evanston, that I came here for during my Iowa Doctoral struggles.

Well,  I could rave on and on.  Starting Organ Fest?  I will be forever grateful that he included me,  and that I was able to continue in it for over 30 years – an artistic privilege, and a blast of fun at the dinners afterward that he planned for us in so many different locations.

Our Lord has a very special place reserved for Lee I am sure.
