The North Shore AGO Chapter held its annual banquet and members’ recital at Glenview Community Church this past Monday evening. Dinner was served in the church’s Founders’ Room with catering by Salerno’s Di Lucca, and included salad with creamy garlic or thousand island dressing, roast sirloin of beef, chicken marsala, and baked mostaccioli, with apple or cherry pie for dessert.

Jill Hunt, Christine Kraemer, David Schrader, Jay Peterson, Andrea Handley, Derek Nickels, Gary Wendt
After dinner the 42 chapter members in attendance proceeded to the church, where we enjoyed a very well attended recital on the magnificent Buzard organ. The program began with the hymn America the Beautiful, accompanied by Gary Wendt, followed by Elizabeth and Raymond Chenault’s duo arrangement of John Philip Sousa’s The Stars and Stripes Forever, played by Christine Kraemer and Jay Peterson. Next was the Prelude in D Flat by John Knowles Paine (Opus 19, Number 1), played by Jill Hunt, followed by the Concert Variations on The Star Spangled Banner by Dudley Buck (Opus 23), played by David Schrader. The Toccata by Leo Sowerby was played by Andrea Handley, followed by Variations on America by Charles Ives, played by Derek Nickels. The congregational singing of Eternal Father, Strong to Save, accompanied by Gary Wendt, completed the program.
Our chapter is certainly blessed with prodigious talent! And I am very pleased to report that there were over 200 in attendance, thanks to the presence of many members and friends of the Glenview Community Church! We ran out of programs and had to print more! Many thanks to Glenview Community Church for their welcoming generosity, their assistance, and the use of their beautiful facility. A good time was had by all!
