Ms. Bauer is the Director of Music/Cathedral Organist at the Saint Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha, Nebrasks, home to the landmark Opus 14 dual-temperament organ by Martin Pasi (this organ is extremely unique in that there are 20 notes/pipes per octave and an associated number of appropriate stops).
Her virtuosic program covered the specific time period from 1562 – 1750 and included the works of Michelangelo Rossi, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Georg Bohm, J. S. Bach, Doemenico Zipoli and Bernardo Storace. The music included strict counterpoint techniques with free running passages, loose improvisatory episodes along with highly developed chromatic passages. Showcased also in these pieces was the variety of registrations highlighting the many unique stops of this Pasi Organ on the North Shore. It is interesting to note that some of these pieces chosen by Ms. Bauer can equally be played either on the organ and/or harpsichord – and was shown to be a successful decision – such as the Fantasia Chromatica and Fugue in d by Bach. The variety of pieces ranged from dance type to alternatum singing.
In addition to serving in her Cathedral duties, Ms. Bauer is active as an interpreter of early music with several ensembles in the Omaha area dedicated to the performance of early music. Many thanks to all who attended this impressive organ playing concert by Ms. Bauer.
