Did anyone leave a black rain jacket at my house after the potluck picnic on September 4th?
If so, please reach out to me at 847-769-7447 – Judy Kohl

From Lillian Ng

After reading the 2 articles about Edith Ho’s passing in the Oct issue of The American Organists, I just wanted to introduce myself as Edith Ho’s niece, as she and my mother are first cousins. Here are some photos of us attending the 2009 Regional organ convention together in Boston when I stayed in her house.  She really encouraged and supported me when I (almost 50 years old) first took organ lessons from James Hildreth in the late 90s. We talked on the phone every Christmas. I was so shocked and saddened to learn that she passed away so suddenly, as I heard from her sister that she was going to move to California in November. Though I have some of her recordings, I regret that I never had an opportunity to listen to her music in person before she retired from the Church of the Advent in 2007.

(You can read about Edith Ho in the October 2021 TAO and online.)

Matthew Wachtman is the 2020 winner of Immanuel’s Organ Scholar Program, a program now in its nineteenth year.  The annual award, consisting of a cash gift and an opportunity to perform a full concert, is given to a student in an organ or church music degree program in an accredited school who has been nominated by faculty. The purpose is to encourage careers in organ and church music. In 2020 we inaugurated a graduate and undergraduate award. Matthew is our undergraduate winner.

Matthew is currently earning the Master of Music degree in Organ Performance at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where he studies with Dr. Christopher Young.

The October 22nd recital is free as is a champagne reception which may follow depending on current Covid considerations.  Immanuel is located at 616 Lake Street, at the southeast corner of Lake and Sherman in downtown Evanston.  Free parking is available in Immanuel’s lot immediately south of the church with an entrance off of Sherman Avenue.  We are also close to the Dempster Street EL station just a block and ½ north.
